The Master in Fiber Optic Testing (TC-MFT) certification program is the first of its kind in the telecommunications field. An approved Master course (TR-MFT) is designed to provide an unmatched, real-life experience with solid classroom instruction, integrating various lab exercises designed around specific testing scenarios. Approved courses feature advanced hands-on testing labs and teach students advanced testing procedures and techniques. Students work with test equipment from several different manufacturers with an emphasis placed on industry “best practices.”

Objectives

After taking this course, students will become testing specialists who are better able to troubleshoot network problems, analyze traces, and calibrate different types of OTDRs. Students will also be well-prepared to learn expert fiber characterization techniques.

To become a “Master” in testing, students must obtain an understanding of the advanced concepts of fiber optic testing. The Master in Fiber Optic Testing certification is a perfect compliment for experienced technicians who already possess field experience. Prerequisites: Level 2

The following knowledge (or commensurate experience) is recommended:

  • 3-5 years fiber optic installation experience or equivalent
  • Prior knowledge of basic testing equipment and procedures
  • A certification as a Technician or Master in Splicing (desired)
  • A certification as a Fiber Optic Technician (TC-FOT) or other industry certification
