Data Cabling Installer

LEVEL 13 DAY COURSE +16 hours of online instruction
LEVEL 1

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Showcase your cutting-edge technical skills, and receive your professional ETA certification as a Data Cabling Installer!

The Data Cabling Installer training is designed for those who design, install or maintain copper and fiber optic systems in commercial buildings and outer facilities. It identifies you as an inside plant installer who demonstrates a practical knowledge of the copper and fiber optic theories, codes, standards and practices widely accepted in commercial buildings and customer-owned outside plants (campus environments).

In addition, this inside plant training incorporates hands-on training of copper and fiber terminations, cable preparations, installation practices and certification testing procedures. Students will learn skills applicable to all of the functions required to safely and competently install advanced copper and fiber communications cabling. All procedures and practices are based on the latest EIA/TIA commercial building cabling standards.

Objectives

This course will give students a deeper understanding of how to assemble, wire, and test various commercial building cabling systems.

This course will allow students to:

  • Understand the EIA/TIA standards for advanced inside plant copper cabling systems
  • Understand the EIA/TIA commercial building cabling standards as they pertain to advanced fiber and copper cabling systems
  • Understand advanced copper and fiber testing procedures
  • Understand distance limitations and performance issues and how to test these measurable properties pertaining to copper and fiber media
  • Demonstrate basic skills needed to assemble, wire, and test various commercial building and inside plant cabling systems including advanced laser optimized fiber optic cabling systems

Lectures

Lectures are self-paced and provide valuable information that will help you pass the certification exam. Online access is accessible for 1 year from the date you register.  The lecture portion of this class is online and self-paced through our Learning Management System. Students receive a personal login to the platform providing access to lectures, study guides, practical exam, practice tests and technical exam. We recommend that the students complete the lecture before attending class. Lectures prepare students for the instructor led hands-on lab portion of the course.  On the last day of the class each student will take a 75-question multiple choice test and if they pass, they will receive their certification in 2-3 weeks.
