We are seeking a motivated Splicing Technician to join our OSP team. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic cables and related telecommunication infrastructure, and plays a key part in ensuring efficient data transmission and network reliability. Success in this position requires strong technical knowledge of fiber optic network operations, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities
\nPerform initial splicing, testing, and certification of the fiber optic network
\nUtilize specialized equipment and tools to splice fibers and ensure low-loss connections
\nAssist with installation and configuration of network equipment such as switches, routers, and firewalls
\nPerform network and fiber maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting in the field
\nWork with customers to diagnose and troubleshoot network problems
\nPerform OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) testing to verify splice quality
\nDocument and track network repairs and upgrades
\nProvide on-site technical support for customers
\nConduct site surveys and network assessments
\nContribute to a culture of trust, integrity, and collaboration

Qualifications
\n1+ years of experience in telecommunications, network installation, fiber optic splicing, or related field
\nStrong knowledge of fiber optic splicing techniques and equipment
\nFamiliarity with optical fibers, connectors, and splice closures
\nProficiency in fiber mapping and schematic reading
\nAbility to interpret technical drawings and schematics
\nProficiency in using OTDRs, fusion splicers, and other fiber optic testing tools
\nUnderstanding of telecommunication infrastructure and networking concepts
\nExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
\nStrong commitment to workplace safety and compliance
\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team in the field
\nAbility to work outdoors and in various weather conditions
\nAbility to lift and move heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
\nValid state driver’s license, good driving record, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance
\nCertification in fiber optics (e.g., CFOT) is preferred<\/p>\n
