The\u00a0Telecom<\/strong> Lineman<\/strong> II<\/strong>\u00a0at\u00a0ASG\u00a0<\/strong>is responsible for accurately reading prints, building new strands and fiber, lashing fiber to strand, and splicing fiber when necessary. This role also operates heavy equipment while assisting the Outside Plant (OSP) division in the construction of utility networks.<\/p>\n

What you\u2019ll do: (Including, but not limited to): \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Understand and practice all safety procedures in compliance with OSHA standards.
\nReads and interprets work orders, specifications, and engineering drawings to determine work to be done in a task sequence.
\nPerforms construction work including but not limited to digging holes, pole climbing, ladders on poles, placing and removing the cable, stringing wire\/cable from pole to pole, and laying cable and conduit in the ground.
\nOperates power equipment such as compressors, pumps, blowers, hydraulic diggers, and hydraulic aerial lifts mounted on trucks.
\nUses test equipment to check for gas in manholes; may be required to empty water and other debris from manholes.
\nDismantles, moves, and removes aerial, underground, or building wire, cable-associated equipment, and hardware.
\nConnects wires and cables to terminals and attaches\/detaches various kinds of hardware to wires, cables, buildings, or poles.
\nResponds to and participates in emergency and outage situations that require heavy construction capabilities.
\nMakes sure all work is performed safely ensuring the customer and public are in compliance with DOT, Cal-OSHA, OSHA, NESC, and Go95 Standards.
\nCompletes daily production reports and As-Built documentation on print.
\nCompletes all required paperwork and reporting in a timely manner as required by the company.
\nAssist others to complete their skilled tasks more effectively.
\nClean and prepare the construction site for work, remove debris and possible hazards; locate and verify all utilities before and during construction.
\nUtilizes hand tools to complete tasks as needed.
\nPerform restoration back to existing conditions, place seed and straw.
\nIdentify utilities and monitor digging by the dig crew to prevent utility hits.
\nClean and maintain equipment.
\nUnderstand the full scope of the project and all aspects of OSP construction.
\nRestock trucks with supplies and ensure the crew has the proper tools and supplies to complete the job.
\nPerforms other duties as assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the responsibilities of this job classification<\/p>\n

What you\u2019ll need: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

General\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
\n3+ years\u2019 experience in the utility construction industry as a lineman
\nGeneral knowledge of construction practices
\nAble to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays when required
\nAble to work in a fast-paced environment
\nSelf-motivated and able to work independently
\nProficient with Microsoft Office suite<\/p>\n

Technical\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

CDL with medical card class \u201cA\u201d
\nAbility to identify and distinguish colors of utility flags and markings on the ground<\/p>\n

Working Conditions: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The work often requires that you drive utility vehicles and work outdoors.
\nMust work under challenging weather conditions, such as in snow, wind, rain, and extreme heat and cold.
\nTravel and weekend work may be required<\/p>\n

Physical Requirements: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Must be able to work in aerial buckets that have a restriction of 300 pounds with PPE & tools.
\nAbility to lift and move up to 70 pounds, including the ability to carry, climb and operate an extension ladder (approx. 28 ft high and 75 pounds).<\/p>\n
