Course Information

Wireless Network Fundamentals online course is designed to give students a firm understanding of radio frequency theory, 802.11 standards, WLAN topologies, basic antenna theory and an introduction to WLAN security. Hands-on access point and client adapter labs provide attendees with experience setting up and securing a wireless LAN. Presentation material will explore WLAN applications in specific markets, WLAN topologies and design concerns, essential equipment, AP configuration, and site survey techniques.

Objectives

As the introductory course in a three-course series, Wireless Network Fundamentals training will give students a good foundation in both wireless networking techniques and equipment.

This course will allow students to:

  • Understand when to use wireless networks
  • Know how to secure wireless networks
  • Understand the differences between enterprise grade and consumer grade wireless equipment
  • Know how to properly troubleshoot and test wireless networks

Course Synopsis

After taking this course, students will be able to deploy and configure enterprise level wireless networks. The course covers the following areas:

  1. Introduction to Wireless Networking
  2. Understanding Enterprise Grade Wi-Fi Networks
  3. Designing and Deploying Wireless: Antennas, Devices, Security
  4. Basic Wireless Router and Client Setup
  5. Common Administrative Tasks
  6. 802.11 Troubleshooting
  7. Site Surveys and RF Signal Measurements

Target Audience

This course is designed for network installers, building managers, small campus technology staff, IT personnel and anyone else with an interest in enterprise level wireless networking.

No prior experience is necessary for the Wireless Network Fundamentals course.

Exam: Wireless Network Fundamentals – This exam must be passed in order to qualify for a certificate in our Certified Wireless Installer course. This exam will consist of a combination of multiple-choice, fill in, diagram drawing, or other similar questions. More information about this specific exam will be given during the Certified Wireless Installer lecture (either online or in person.) TE-WNF Included
